When we came to Oregon in 2001, our goal was to make our land produce something for us and the community, and to make that product be of the best possible quality. We discovered that high quality wine grapes and award winning wines were already being produced in Oregon and, in particular, here in the Umpqua Valley. So we began planting a vineyard – and prayed a lot (thanks for the intercessory prayers of our friends, too, especially our Capuchin Franciscan brothers). We now have 18 acres and seven grape varieties under cultivation: Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Syrah, Müller Thurgau, Merlot & Dolcetto. We have, with God’s help, made every effort to produce high quality grapes, giving the plants everything they need while also limiting our impact on the environment. Our focus on quality in the vineyard, combined with our hillside location, delivers wine of unique character and perfect balance. The wine making here in the Umpqua Valley, like our grape growing, is done with the highest quality product in mind. We feel that you will be able to taste the difference and to “taste the place” that is Delfino Vineyards.
